Here is a quick summary of my results from the Stratford Scrabble Tournament on Saturday August 18th, 2007.
I finished with a record of 6 – 2 (+520), getting me first place in division #6. I started off with a disheartening loss by 149 points, but managed to finish the morning session at 2 – 2 (-39). After a seemingly endless lunch break, I seemed to be in better spirits and got some great tiles to boot. In the afternoon session, I finished 4 – 0 with some huge margins in my final three games (+211, +153, +180). In eight games, I played 11 bingos. I managed to miss a couple, but also had several homeless bingos in the games when the board got shut down.
I did a quick check on via the online ratings calculator and my new rating is 924 (estimated). It’s not as large a rise as I would have liked, but I’m headed in the right direction. On the other hand, I now qualify to play up a division at the upcoming Michael Wise Memorial Scrabble tournament. Hopefully I’ll play well at the early bird to solidify my rating in the four-digit range.
Some Mississauga folk did well too:
- Fraser Simpson won division #4 with a record of 7 – 1
- Priya Fernando finished 1st in division #3
- Shelly Sullivan finished 2nd in division #3
Upcoming tournaments I plan to attend:
- Michael Wise Memorial Scrabble Tournament in Toronto (Sept. 7–9, 2007)
- Mississauga Scrabble Tournament (Sept. 22, 2007)
- Cambridge Scrabble Tournament (Oct. 13, 2007)
- Brantford Scrabble Tournament (just announced – Nov. 3, 2007)
- Oshawa Scrabble Tournament (Dec 2007)
